Those into CBS’ Big Bang Theory are marking an end to one comedic and nerdy era.

The show’s finale was taped earlier this month and will air tonight (Thursday, May 16).

All of you Penny, Leonard, Bernadette and other fans have watched the group of graduate students grow up from shy and awkward aspiring scientists to confident, brash guys and gals who are either already married with families or well on their way to, despite all their quirks.

Yes, even Sheldon found a wife.

This blog has taken a few opportunities to illustrate Asperger’s syndrome using Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons). If you’d like to prep before the big finale with a review of some of Sheldon’s Asperger traits, there’s no better video than one provided by ASET-Autism Safety and Education Training.

There are almost a dozen clips from the show over the years showing Sheldon interacting with someone and how his Asperger’s syndrome (if he was formally or informally diagnosed) affects his interaction. The following points demonstrate in one hilarious way how people with Asperger’s:

1. avoid eye contact
2. have excellent memory and elevated IQ
3. have unusual preoccupations or rituals (There’s quite an argument for why a chair should be positioned a certain way. Even a neurotypical could take some pointers and use these with a spouse to get their way in the living room.)
4. have eccentric or repetitive behaviors
5. have poor social skills
6. generally do not make friends easily
7. are unable to understand jokes, double-meanings or sarcasm
8. dislike any changes in routine

Watch the clip, learn and laugh and tune in to CBS tonight for the final “Big Bang!”
