Superheroes comes in all varieties, and no one knows that better than one NYC artist who looked to his son for some innovative ideas in the world of fantasy.
The result is a total of three educational books to date, all centered around a character called “Jake Jetpulse.”
Led Bradshaw learned his son, Jake, was affected with the autism he was three. The two would often draw together and he noticed Jake was especially interested in drawing a character he claimed was very similar to himself.
Jake the superhero has a very elaborate world he lives in and often goes on very exciting adventures.
The Jake Jetpulse characters have created two reading comprehension books as well as a learning activity book. There is a history book in the making.
“He’s my art director,” Bradshaw said. “He tells me everything that he wants, and I draw it and put it into the stories.”
Jake has definitely developed his own “superhero” powers while drawing with dad.
Bradshaw says Jake has become much more confident and sociable.
